Photo Pendants Tutorial

I thought you all might appreciate a break from all the heart/ Valentines projects, I’ve been posting lol…I thought about saving for mothers day, but just couldn’t keep this to myself.

I found this post on Ginger Snap Crafts Here. Check out there blog when you get a chance 🙂

Tutorial {photo pendants}

These personalized photo pendants are so easy & fun to make!
I first saw these over on
Sugar Bee Crafts & knew I had to make some!

I got everything I needed to make these from the esty shop, Candy Tiles.

You can buy bundle kits that includes all of your supplies to make these!

You’ll need:
glass tiles
bails
Diamond Glaze
Super Glue
chains
You’ll also need a black & white photo printed out on white cardstock.
I just used Microsoft Word to size my photos & print them out.
Mine are .8 inch by .8 inch.
Put a tiny drop (about a pea size amount) of the Diamond Glaze on your tile.
Then use a small paint brush to spread it out a little.
You don’t want it oozy…so if you have too much just brush some off.
While the Diamond Glaze is still wet, set your picture face down on your tile.
Rub the back of your paper to get a really good seal.
Let it dry for 5-10 minutes. Then squirt some Diamond Glaze on the back of the photo.
Spread it out with a brush to seal your paper. Let it dry for several hours.
After they are dried, use super glue to attach the bail to the back.
Be careful on this part! I seriously glued my fingers together! grrrr! 😦
There you go! All done! So easy!
These would make great Valentine gifts! Just sayin’! 😉

XOXO Valentine Project Tutorial

I love this project I found while surfing the blogs. For the complete & original post scroll to the bottom of this post – Enjoy 🙂

Here’s a cute little craft to bring a little Valentine happiness to your home! (I repurposed my Dollar Tree frames from my “Fall” grouping, except for one frame that I scrounged up here).

And the great thing is that you can take out the Valentine XOXO and store them, and then use the Dollar Tree frames again for a different project.
I also used a large black frame that I had and made a large heart for my mantle.
I was going to decoupage the frame, but discovered that I only have the shiny Mod Podge, so I will do that later.
I love that it is a very inexpensive project. I used frames I already had, plus one bag of floral marbles ($1.50), scrapbbook paper I already had and E6000.
This is what I did:

Took the pictures out of my Dollar Tree frames and traced the outline on my scrapbook paper. Found a cup that was the right size for the O’s and traced around it on two of the papers. Found the center on the other two papers and used a ruler to make an X.

Then I put a followed the outline on the X’s and O’s with a line of E6000 craft glue. I then put a line of marbles on the glue. Then I made another line on each of the X’s and O’s and put another line of marbles. And let them sit overnight to dry.
For the large heart, I cut out the scrapbook paper to fit inside the heart. Then I cut out another sheet of paper the same size using leftover paper (you will not keep this part so you could use plain copy paper). I folded that extra paper in half and then cut out a heart that was a little smaller than the paper. Then I traced that heart on the paper that goes inside the frame — using pencil. After that I put a bunch of the E6000 inside the heart outline and then filled it in with marbles. And I let it sit overnight to dry.
The next day I put the paper inside of the frames. The glass that comes with the frames I put behind the paper with the marbles on it. This way I won’t lose the glass if I want to use it again with the frame for another project.
I like the size of the glass marbles and the way they sparkle in the sun!

Glass-Jar Moroccan Lanterns

I love these jars – I can see them all over my mantel, on my table, or what a great gift they would make 🙂

For original blog post on these – Scroll to the bottom of this post.

Materials

  • old glass jars (spaghetti jars, jam jars or any plain glass jar will work)
  • gold dimensional puff paint
  • glass paint (Delta or Pebeo Vitrea glass paint are great options)
  • paintbrush
  • wire (optional, for hanging lanterns)

Instructions
1. Remove labels and any glue residue from the glass jars and allow them to dry completely.
2. Apply the gold dimensional paint in various patterns. You can use the applicator tip to create small stud-like dots, draw various decorative patterns or push around the paint to create solid areas of gold. Let dry.

3. Pour a small amount of glass paint inside the jar and use your paintbrush to drag the paint up the sides of the jar, coating all of the jar’s interior. Let dry.

4. Your lanterns are now ready to enjoy indoors or out! Simply fill them with candles or add loops of fine-gauge wire to the tops for easy hanging.
